Product Description


Labels specifically designed to help businesses meet the requirements of the Food Information Regulations EU1169/2011 (FIR Regs). The Food Standards Agency (FSA) in conjunction with DEFRA are introducing new allergen labelling laws which will come into effect in December 2014.

These new regulations affect all foodservice organisations serving unpackaged food, or food that is packaged on site for immediate consumption.

Establishments will be required to provide details of all possible allergens that are contained within the menu items being served. The details of the recognised Allergens must be marked in a clearly visible place so that employees of the establishment can provide correct information to consumers.

In order to ensure that food is safe to eat, caterers need to ensure food is properly cookes and stored. Now new regulations have also included a duty to ensure that food businesses provide information to customers who need to avoid certain ingredients because of an allergy.

From 13 December 2014, food businesses will have to to provide allergy information on food sold unpackaged. Food outlets including catering, deli counters, bakeries and sandwich bars will be included.

All operators and staff must be aware of the food allergens contained in their prepared foods. The law requires restaurants to clearly identify any food product(s) with ingredients that contain protein derived from any of the 14 major allergenic foods and food groups: eggs, molluscs, crustaceans, celery, milk, fish, treenuts, sulphites, soya, sesame, peanuts, mustard, lupin and gluten.
